Young Composers Competition

Sadly, our Young Composers Competition is suspended until further notice.  But if you want to indicate your interest for when the Competition resumes, please complete the Registration Form, following the link below.  Please ignore any stated deadlines!

We are looking for young Surrey people to compose a work for us to sing.

We’re looking for a secular or sacred work suitable for performance by a mixed voice amateur choir, either with keyboard accompaniment (organ or piano) or unaccompanied.  The piece should last no less than 3 and no more than 6 minutes. The text must be in English or Latin.

The Competition is open to young people under the age of 25 who live in the county of Surrey or who are in full or part-time education in the county.

Entries will be judged by a panel of professional musicians.

However, due to the disruption caused by Covid19, in particular the closure of all schools and colleges, we are postponing the competition for this year. We will be revisiting in 2021 so, if you have started preparing an entry, please carry on and submit a registration form

If you wish to enter, please complete and return the Registration Form.

Prizes!

The first prize will be £1,000.  If the winner is aged 19 or over a further prize of £500 may be awarded for the best work by an entrant aged 18 or under on that date.
